New signing itching to play
New signing Calvin Andrew is looking forward to working with boss Micky Adams again, following a loan spell with Brighton when the manager was in charge.
He enjoyed his first training session with the rest of the lads this morning and is raring to go as the lads prepare for our FA Cup tie against Sheffield United this weekend.
He said: “I was first made aware of Micky Adams’ interest about a week ago. Micky Adams had spoken on the phone and said he was keen on doing something if I kept fit, so I was definitely going to relish the opportunity.
“I was at Crystal Palace when he took me on loan when he was the manager of Brighton. I went down there for two months and did quite well, though he was sacked unfortunately when we got knocked out of one of the cups.
“He knows me quite well. I scored a couple of goals when I was there and we won a couple of games, so he knows what I am all about and what my strengths are.
“I will come here and I will work hard for the team and I will score goals here as well. I would say I am a pacey striker, I am strong, I can hold the ball and I play in behind and go past people.
“The fans can expect a player who gives one hundred per cent and they can expect a lot of enthusiasm and determination.
“Hopefully they can expect a lot of goals too. I have got a real hunger to do well and be successful.”
