Duffy happy to be here

Newcomer sees the trip to Ireland as an opportunity

One of Vale’s summer signings, Richard Duffy, knows this season will test the whole squad, but  he is ready for the challenge.

Despite Micky Adams’ pre-season training regime being well known, it wasn’t something that was going to put him off joining the Vale as he has experienced working under the Gaffer before.

He said: “Every league is tough, but looking at this league, there are a lot of teams looking to get promoted this year, a lot of teams spending money and it’s going to be a battle.

“The pre-season has been very tough so far. I have done it before with the Gaffer and it’s not something you look forward to, but it’s something you have got to do.

“You have to put the effort in, but the boys are getting fitter playing a few games as well.

“I have loved it here so far. The training is a little bit different – it is tough, but that’s the way Micky Adams works. That’s the way he likes his players to be and I am happy with that.

“I have played under him before and I wouldn’t have come to Port Vale if I didn’t like him.

Along with the rest of the lads, Richard sees the trip to Ireland as a great opportunity to get to know the whole squad and an opportunity to forge a good team spirit.

He continued: “The new lads have now got a chance to mix and get to know everyone over in Ireland.

“I’ve been here a couple of weeks now, but eight days being together twenty four seven is going to be good for me and the other new players to get to know all the players and the staff as well.”
