Confidence has taken a knock, but we will be back
Micky Adams says he knows confidence has been dealt a blow recently, but there isn’t too much wrong in the camp and the Christmas period could see Vale coming on strong once again.
He observed: “When confidence is not quite right you have that extra touch and then that allows the defender to come in and close you down.
“How many times on Saturday did we hit the first man, particularly when we were putting balls into the box?
“A few weeks ago we were missing that first man, it was going into the right areas and we were getting on the end of things.
“Unfortunately it has not been there in the last three games, but we get carried away with things because we have had three defeats.
minute, and that wasn’t helped by a refereeing decision.th“There was not a lot wrong with the Sheffield United performance until the 90
“So really we are talking about a disappointing performance against Bradford and we followed that up with another one against Chesterfield with virtually two different sides.
“We have given ourselves a platform to work from and I am sure there are lots of team below us who would have snatched our hands of to swap places with us.
“There is no panic, there is no crisis and we are not going to turn it into a crisis, but we need the bigger players to come alive again and show everybody what they are capable of doing.
“What we want to do over the next few games in a busy Christmas period is once again establish ourselves as a good team at the top of the table.
“To do that we have got to go to places like Cheltenham and Rotherham in the next three games and show them what we are all about.
“If we can do that we will continue picking up points and establish ourselves in the top three.”
