Micky looking for a win tonight at Walsall
The manager made the decision to announce his line-up for tonight’s match against Walsall early yesterday afternoon and says despite the changes, they are going out to win the game.
The League remains the priority, but a decent run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy is not to be sniffed at and you can rest assured Vale will be taking the game seriously..
Micky said: “Walsall are in a higher division and they started particularly well. Dean Smith has done a great job so far on a limited budget.
“I would assume that themselves and Bury at that level have probably got the lowest budgets in the league and to be in the top echelons of the league, as they were earlier on, before the last two weeks, they have done fantastically well.
“But we are not concerning ourselves about them too much, all I want us to do is go out there, get on the ball and play, and try and win the game.
“There is a lot to play for, from an individual and a collective point of view. We’ve got a live Sky game coming up, so I’m sure the boys will be wanting to put on a performance to put something in my mind so they play in the next game.”
The Vale will line up as follows: Sam Johnson, Adam Yates, John McCombe, Richard Duffy, Rob Taylor, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Chris Shuker, Ryan Burge, Ashley Vincent, Tom Pope, Ben Williamson. Subs: Gareth Owen, Louis Dodds, Ryan Lloyd, Kingsley James, Joe Davis.
The gaffer commented: “The boys that are coming in have all deserved a chance. They’ve sat there waiting patiently. I would think that Adam Yates, Chris Shuker and Ben Williamson would get into a lot of other League Two teams at the moment.
“Unfortunately for them, the team is going so well that they can’t get in, but it’s an opportunity for them to show what they can do.”
