It has been over five years since Port Vale made the trip to the Globe Arena to come up against Morecambe, as we have to go back to August 2012.
It didn’t take long for Micky Adams side to open the scoring, as after just 55 seconds Sam Morsy put Vale 1-0 up, with the perfect start.
However, they couldn’t hold the lead heading into the break, as Kevin Ellison ensured the two sides would be level as we moved into the second 45 minutes.
The two sides battled throughout the second half and the game looked to be heading for a draw as neither side managed to get the breakthrough with one minute remaining.
That was until, John McCombe put Vale 2-1 in the lead on 89 minutes after he headed home from a Sam Morsy cross.
Finally, deep into injury time, Vale made it sure to put the game to bed, as Tom Pope slotted home to ensure the three points would be going back to Burslem.
