CHILVERS ENJOYING IT SO FAR

On loan defender glad to be back at Vale Park

Liam Chilvers enjoyed the opportunity to wear a Port Vale shirt once again at Vale park, but obviously he wasn’t happy with the way the game went against Bradford City on Tuesday night.

Chilvers, on loan at the Vale until early January is hoping to get a few more games under his belt to prove his worth to the manager during his spell here, but accepts he is at the mercy of Micky Adams when it comes to team selection.

He said: “It was good to have a game again and to have a run out at home, but obviously the result wasn’t what I would have wanted.

“Fitness-wise it has been okay. I had obviously played in a few games while I was at Telford so that wasn’t so much of a problem.

“There is obviously a difference in the pace of the games as you come back up the leagues, but hopefully as I play more games the sharpness side of things will come along, but all in all I thought I did okay.

“We are now out of all cup competitions and that means there is less chance that players get injured. You need to keep the key players fit and hopefully this will help the manager to be able to rest people if necessary.

“Players will be able to get more rest in the week and we will try and take the positives out of it and say that it will help in the long run.

“On a personal note, I have been in the game long enough to know that it is the manager’s decision as to whether I keep my place or not.

“Whatever he decides to do, I’ll go along with it, but I am paid by Port Vale to be a player so I will do what I have to do and hopefully he will pick me. “
