The last time Port Vale and Cheltenham Town faced eachother was in October 2017 where a Tom Pope brace allowed Neil Aspin to get his first victory for the club.
Pope put the hosts ahead on 26 minutes where he met James Gibbons’ cross to covert past Scott Flinders.
The next goal didn’t come until the 61st minute where a potential goal of the season from Ben Whitfield saw The Valiants win their first game since the start of the season.
20 minutes later, Pope converted his second after rounding the ‘keeper and sliding the ball into an empty net.
Kevin Dawson got a consolation goal late on for The Robins, smashing the ball past Kelle Roos from around 10-yards.
Vale will be hopeful for the same result on Saturday, when the two meet at the LCI Rail Stadium.
