Danny Pugh Talks Pre-Season

It has been a busy summer so far in the transfer market for Vale with Michael Brown making a number of new signings, but Danny Pugh is delighted with how the squad is shaping up.

A short trip to Spain allowed for a bit of team bonding and the midfielder believes that all of the fresh faces have fitted in seamlessly.

He said: "Everyone is fitting in fantastically and it doesn't feel like that there's many new lads in there. We've all bonded well and we got on with each other so it looks positive ahead of the new season.

"The trip abroad was good for us. It's always nice to go away with the group, especially with the new boys in there. It gave us a chance to get some more fitness based work in and the weather was decent too!"

Vale end their pre-season preparations on Tuesday night as Premier League side West Bromwich Albion visit Vale Park. Pugh knows it will be another difficult challenge, but it's one he is relishing.

He said: "It's going to be a tough game. They are obviously a Premier League team and they will have some good players in there regardless of who plays, whether that's a senior team or some younger lads.

"It will provide another challenge for us and that will be good for the lads. We can't wait for the season to start now, we've done the hard work over the last few weeks and now we just want to get up and running."
