Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased with the performance against Scunthorpe United and hoped it repaid the fans' faith but felt his side deserved more than a point.
In-form striker Ajay Leitch-Smith scored on the stroke of half time to cancel out Iron midfielder Jack King’s opener.
The Valiants had the bulk of the chances in the second half with Michael O’Connor striking the crossbar and Ryan McGivern having a powerful effort saved.
Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Page said he hoped the supporters were satisfied with the display.
“I think we’re disappointed with a point in the end,” he commented. “I think we’ll take the level of performance, the work rate, the effort the boys have put in on the back of a difficult week.
“But I think overall we created enough chances to win the game. The keeper’s made a great save from Ryan McGivern but overall we’ll take that performance.
“It’s been well documented all week we were disappointed, we let the supporters down last week, certainly the ones that travelled as well to represent the badge.
“We wanted to go and put it right. Alright we didn’t get the win today but I’d like to think that by the level of performance the boys gave to the supporters today it goes a small way to repaying it back to them for last week.”
