Watford defender joins on one-year deal
Port Vale Football Club has signed defender Carl Dickinson on a one-year contract.Dickinson joins the Valiants from after being released by Championship outfit Watford, where the 26-year-old made 47 appearances since joining from Stoke City for £250,000 two years ago.
The Swadlincote-born defender, who had loan spells at Portsmouth and Coventry City last season, joins after passing a medical this morning.
The player is able to slot in at left back or centre half, will join the squad and will be available for selection for the games at Alfreton Town or Leek Town this weekend.
Manager Micky Adams said: "Carl has performed at a higher level than League One and that experience will be invaluable for us, especially as he can perform in two positions."
